Hello Resident,I hope you are well.
We would like to update you on what we have been doing in the Bartley Green area this week: . It was great to see so many people at the PACT meeting back on the 24th/09/25. And it was great to hear your concerns and issue you face in the community and how officers and local government would tackle these issues. I would just like to say that every concern and issue you raised are listened to and we appreciate the time you have taken out of your day to come and raise them to us. . We have attended calls to service in the area trying to help address issues and try and prevent them from happening, such as the parking in the estates around Newman university, where we have given warnings to some vehicle’s and have spoken to people in power at the university itself, to raise awareness for what is going on outside the university, so they can act upon it. . In regards to Newman university, we have met up with members of Steel house society what is a group for those studying at Newman university on the Professional Policing course. We agreed to meet at Bournville police station, as they have requested to meet up with their local PCSO’s for an event they have called Gratitude zone, where members of the group have made posters and cards to give thanks for the work we do to help make the area that bit safer and better.
Over the last six days, we have received one report of a theft of a motor vehicle in the area. We advise you to make sure that you have the necessary measures to keep your vehicle secure and safe. We advise you to install security measures such as a disk lock for your vehicles steering wheel. A gear stick lock to make sure no one can change gear’s if suspects was to get in your vehicle. We also advise to install pull up metal pillars on top of your drive to trap your vehicle in, that is only if you park your car on your homes drive. These measures help to keep your vehicle safe as all the security measures will help deter anyone from trying to steal your vehicle.
We have had three report of homes being broken into in the area. We advise you to take the necessary measures to keep your home safe and secure. You can do this by locking your doors and windows to help keep the property secure. You can also install Anti-snap locks what will help make your doors leading into the home more secure and less likely to be broken into. We also advise you to purchase and install CCTV cameras as this can help deter people from trying to gain entry into your property. It also helps be able to get a clear picture of the individual if they did try to gain entry to your home making it easier for officers to identify the suspect.
We still encourage residents to register their home/business CCTV and doorbell cameras, as this helps us solve crimes by providing us the appropriate footage what captures the crime in question. This not only helps us solves crimes, but it also helps to keep your community safer. You can use the link below, what takes you to our web page where you can register your CCTV cameras by putting in your details. This helps officers be able to get in contact with you if they believe your CCTV camera has potential digital footage of a crime being committed, as they can see the local area where has crime has took place, and see your CCTV camera present in that area. This will help officers in dealing with crimes more quickly and swiftly, what will then allow them to do more jobs, helping to make the community a safer place. CCTV Registry | West Midlands Police
We are still experiencing an increase of demand from across the area over the last few weeks, with more people calling and asking for help. Our staff are working extremely hard to answer and respond to your calls and live chats. But due to the high demand it can cause callers to have to wait longer than they should, what if something neither of us want at all. We prioritize your enquires/calls based on how urgent they are, but we always appreciate that you want help as soon as possible.
In Non-emergencies circumstances, we want you to get in contact with us through the live web chat, or the Non-emergency telephone 101. If your circumstances are emergencies, then please call 999.
We are still looking to recruit for the Street watch initiative. For further information please visit the WMP website for details. You can use the link below what will take you to our page where the necessary steps to register your interest in the street watch programme, can be made. Street Watch | West Midlands Police
